who should use Xero?

  • You are comfortable with technology

  • You are prepared to invest some time in your bookkeeping

how does the program work?

STEP 1 – Attend a scaleUP Financial Information Session.  Please check the events calendar for upcoming sessions. If you cannot attend, call 519-253-6900 to discuss the program with a business advisor. (required)
STEP 2 – Attend Know Your Numbers, a 1-day financial bootcamp. The next bootcamp takes place on [date to be determined], and costs $50 to attend. (required) 
STEP 3 – Click "Apply" below to fill out the online program application.
STEP 4 – If approved for the program, an SBC business advisor will contact you to set up your Xero account.
STEP 5 – Attend monthly Xero hands-on training and financial workshops*:

  • Xero 1 - Billing & Expenses - July 26
  • Xero 2 - Reconciling Your Accounts - September 6
  • Xero 3 - HST & Closing Your Quarter - October 4
  • Finance 1 - Understanding Financial Reports, Working Capital & Pricing - November 8
  • Finance 2 - Payroll, WSIB & Income Tax Obligations - December 13

*Participants must attend Xero training workshops in sequential order. Xero workshops are a prerequisite to taking Finance 1 and Finance 2. Participants must ensure they have an adequate amount of activity in their Xero accounts (sales and expenses) before attending Xero 2.

what’s my commitment?

  • scaleUP Financial takes approximately 6 months to complete, in order to reach “mastery” level with Xero. You will receive software support while completing the workshops and a Xero software discount for 1 year. You can retain the accounting system once you graduate from the support program.
  • Program cost:
    • $600 + HST for scaleUP training and support.
    • Xero subscription (paid to Xero). Discounted rate of $18 USD per month while enrolled in the program (up to 12 months). $30 USD per month once graduated.
