how does the program work?

STEP 1 – Attend scaleUP: Small Business Accounting info session on Dec. 15 (required)
STEP 2 – Fill out an online application (coming soon)
STEP 3 – If approved for the program, schedule an appointment with an SBC business advisor to set up your Xero account
STEP 4 – Attend a training session in January 2017 on how to use Xero. You will learn:

  • How to quote and bill customers) or integrate with Square
  • How to pay employees
  • How to match cash receipts and keep on top of your customers
  • How to record and keep control of payments
  • How to get information you need
  • Guidance on how to use “help” functions available

STEP 5 – Attend monthly drop-in sessions to help you with accounting questions
STEP 6 – Attend a “close the quarter” session, where you will learn how to make use of your financial information in a meaningful way and how to file your HST returns

what’s my commitment?

  • Your enrolment in the program lasts a year, in order to reach “mastery” level with Xero. While in the program, you are eligible for the above training, support and software. You can retain the accounting system once you graduate from the support program.
  • Program cost:
    • Xero subscription (paid to Xero). Discounted rate of $18 USD per month while enrolled in the program (up to 12 months). $30 USD per month once graduated
    • SBC support and training (paid to Small Business Centre): $75 + HST per month for the duration of the program
    • NOTE: The commitment to the program is 12 months, with a mandatory minimum of 6 months. Should you choose to cancel after 6 months, 50% of the remaining payments (of 12 months) will be due
